I found a text from Judy when I came back from walking Elsa, saying she was going to St. Michael's today instead of Holy Rosary. I usually like to go with her, so I get to see people who attend there, but when I got home, it was 8:25, and she said she had to leave at 8:30. There was no way I was going to make it. I let Paulette know I would be going with her up to Holy Rosary.
I took my walking stick with me. I could walk reasonably well with it, but sitting down and standing up were a challenge. After church, there was a ministry fair appealing to people to sign up. I signed up to be lector. I was once told by a priest that I read reading well. Okay, I guess I'll do.
When I got home, I changed and lay down on my love seat/anti-gravity chair, read, and did a little napping. I didn't sleep much. I was moved to go into the library and do more alphabetizing of the shelves. I found two more books in the process. I only have 29 of the 170 the New Orleans seminary requested. I plan to tell John Coughlin to ask another seminary to make their selection when I get down to ten. Meantime, I have enough books pulled so I could send out one or two small boxes. I was loading this slightly larger box, but I think it is too flimsy for the job. I think my mattress cover came in it.
Damon called. We talked about many things: mostly August's search for a college that will work for him. When it came to select a high school, Damon and Cylin decided to stick with the public school. Damon said friends who sent their kids to a private school have had nothing to do with the college search and their child's application process. This is a full-time job for Damon and Cylin. I'm thinking how great to have your parents involved as long as they're not pushing their agenda for their ego's sake. Mike pushed Damon into going to Vassar. He promised him a car if he did. It was a wonderful choice for him. Damon plus 2 are thinking Occidental might be the best choice for August. He is a wonderful student. He's not brilliant, but he is diligent and pursues his interests. He is a good kid. Any school would be proud to have him as their graduate. Damon has made Vassar proud. He's another winner.
I worked on the blog. I think I'm way behind again. I wind up taking days off before putting one out. I have them down, but I have to proof them.

Musings:
I came across an article about how the two sides of the brain perceive print differently. The left brain would think that first and first are two different words because of the difference in the font. The left brain categorizes by distinguishing details. Whereas the right brain might think first and frost are the same word bn ecause they share characteristics.
The examples he gave were: A wife might think her husband is an imposter because he comes home with a different haircut. Right brain: a wife might think she sees her husband all over town because she sees other men that look a little like him. Ah, when we lose a loved one, we think we see them all over the place. But because we don't have brain damage, we can check and discern the difference.
So if kids confuse two words because they share a few letters, they are overusing their right brains. Means most of the kids I work with underutilize their left brains.
Right brain categories without detail. Left brain categories are based on detail. Both make aggregates.
