Wow! Mike is in the hospital in Honolulu. We were flown over in a tiny, tiny plane at 3
am last night. He has a severe case of
necrotizing pancreatitis, which means the pancreas is being destroyed, killed,
being made dead. I have heard a range of forecasts. It is severe, but they are
anticipating a recovery. We will be here somewhere between 2 to3 days to 2 to 3
weeks.
The usual cause
of pancreatitis is alcohol consumption and high triglycerides. Huh? Mike
doesn't drink except for the communion wine, and his triglycerides are normal.
One doctor, an internist, not a gastrointestinal doctor, said it is the worst
case he has ever seen.
Poor guy, no
food, not even a drop of water. He has
to let his GI system completely rest. I
will keep you all posted.
