Because my leg hurt earlier in the day when I climbed into bed, I thought I would need help during the night—nothing of the sort. My leg felt better than it had. I had no trouble getting in and out of bed at night.

I woke up for the day around 7 am. I let Elsa out in the backyard. She peed but didn't poop. Later in the day, I found a surprise on the lanai. I have put out wee-wee pads for her. Besides her having no interest in them, I have trouble keeping them flat. Because the house is so open, a strong breeze can shift and fold them. Elsa was not handling this break in her routine well. She had passed on her food twice already. She ate it eventually.

Shivani started experiencing pain running down the back of her leg yesterday. I recognized it as sciatica. That can be terribly painful. I handed her my massage gun, a tennis ball, and Salon Pas. She will have to deal with this when she gets home. The change has been hard on her too. Sid has had particular problems. I appreciated her presence. I didn't need much help, but it was good to know someone was here if I did. Also, it is good to have the company at any time, particularly now. I missed a presence in the house before the surgery. It would have been tough for me to go through this alone.

Besides being alone in the house, Yvette was away most of the time. Josh discovered he had Covid. They decided that Yvette should stay away from him until he was no longer symptomatic. She will be back on Monday night.

I noticed some water running in the driveway. I went out to check. I thought Shivani might have left it on after rinsing down when they returned from the beach. No such luck. One of the pipes was leaking. I called Josh, told him about the leak, and asked him to turn off the water. Getting to the shut-off value requires some gymnastics. I wasn't capable of it before the surgery and certainly couldn't do it now. Maybe one day. I called Mike right away to come and fix it. He said he would be over today. He was busy the next two days. He was concerned about a possible rainstorm. The glue wouldn't set in heavy rain. Fortunately, the rain held off. He was able to fix the pipe and turn on the water again. It cost me twice as much as it did the last time he was here. Ow!

Paulette and Judy came over to deliver flowers. I got up to get my mother's large crystal, which sat in the middle of the dining room table. They were surprised to see me moving around so briskly.

Shivani spent most of the day in her bedroom. Sidney couldn't tolerate her being anywhere else. He cried because she took a shower in my bedroom. I went to him. He said he didn't want me in the house. I assured him I loved him and his mom would be right back. I asked him if he was okay. He said no. I asked him if his feet were okay. He said yes. I asked him if his lower legs were okay. He said yes. I worked my way up his body. He calmed down. Then I asked him if he was okay. He said no, but he had a grin on his face. I said yes in a childlike, playful voice. He screamed no in a similar voice. When Shivani came out of the shower, they remained in the bedroom. He came out regularly to show me something he constructed with his straws and was calm and less demanding of his mom.

Isaac texted to ask me how long I expected to be up. He was catching a flight home today and wanted to say goodbye.

Darby called and asked if she could drop by some food. She delivered a local avocado, an orange, two squares of dark chocolate, and some breadfruit waffles that Patrick makes. I tried the dark chocolate, not expecting to like it. OMG! It was delicious. Dark chocolate is usually too bitter for me.
