HE IS CURRENTLY IN ROOM 318 A

OK, from the hospitalist. He’s the guys who works on the floor who is not a specialist, like a kidney doctor or a surgeon specializing the pancreases:
-Mikes’ low hemoglobin is caused both by his end-stage kidney disease and his sleepy bone marrow. He said the kidneys are like the foremen; they instruct the bone marrow to do the work.  The bone marrow is like the factory producing the blood cells. This means both the foreman and the factory are offline.   Besides that, some of the blood cells are being detoured to the site of the injury, which means there is less to go around for normal functioning.
-They’re unclear if he merely has an inflamed pancreas or he actually has an infection.  If he has an infection, they will have to put a drain in his abdomen, which is dangerous. He is currently on antibiotics for pneumonia; he had aspirated liquids into his lungs – they think from his stomach juices. The antibiotics will be over tomorrow.  If his fever spikes, they will know there is an infection there somewhere.  Going into the abdomen is dangerous.  I will keep you posted.
