My friend, Jean from Arizona, visited the island to see her daughter and grandkids. I got to see her the day after she arrived. She came to the house to meet Shivani and Sidney on her last day. Shivani was out, but Sidney was here. We hadn't been able to get together again. She was leaving later today. She had proposed meeting with me and Sidney at Kua Bay. I was too anxious about the upcoming surgery. I wanted to get some basic housekeeping done, washing my bedroom and bathroom floors. After washing them with antiseptic soap, I needed to prevent my feet from getting dirty when I went to the bathroom at night.
It was 3:30 before I remembered I wanted to go to the bank to cash a check and pick up extra salve from the vet for Elsa's skin lesions. I wanted to ensure that Shivani had enough should I go into rehab on Oahu. When I got to the bank, the parking lot was packed. That meant a long line with only half an hour left before the bank closed. I turned around and headed up the hill to get the salve from the vet.
Alexandra was here again today. Sidney was fantastic again. He had a positive response to her from the get-go.
I got some final paperwork in the mail to Damon, my POA, in case-of-my-death instructions, and a revision to the distribution of my trust to Raymond James.
Sidney had been sick the other day with bug bites. He ran a temperature. Now, his nose was running. Shivani and I put on masks, and poor Sidney was told to stay away from me. He was still too young to understand that I wasn't rejecting him, just his germs. I had to stay healthy until after the surgery. If I had a cold, the surgery would be canceled. I was anxious to get it over with after wrestling with this problem for 13 years.
Shivani went out to pick up Chinese food for us tonight. Sidney wanted dessert for dinner without eating anything nutritious. Shivani held her ground with humor. I doubt I could have the patience she has. She is a wonderful calm loving mother.
Isaac came over to visit. I wasn't in the mood for a lengthy conversation. He said he would sit with me while he wrote his final goodbyes to his students. He was leaving on Monday, the 6th. His year of volunteering in the small religious school was over. He wouldn't call it a wonderful experience, but it has been a year of growth.
Before I went to bed, Shivani helped me apply the antiseptic soap. I passed on a full-body shower. I just rinsed off the soap after two minutes. I would take a shower in the morning. I scrubbed every nook and cranny of my body thoroughly.
