I slept well till 2:30 and then dozed until 4. Sadness overwhelmed me. There’s a lot of disappointment in my life. Relationships are important to me. I need people who care about others and who are capable of showing concern about the needs of others even when they don’t get brownie points or blue ribbons for heroics. Also, the lack of opportunity to tutor is hard on me. I need the activity. Barricades are going up left and right. The schools won’t allow volunteer tutors unless they do precisely what the teachers tell them to do. They are posting names of approved tutors. You have to work with their exact methods. I can’t give it away. My heart is breaking. Gardening helps occupy my time, but it is overwhelming, too. Even those who garden regularly are overwhelmed because of all the rain.
I attended the Hula class this morning. The moves are becoming familiar. The one dance that still undoes me is “Lovely Hula Hands.” It includes many above-the-heart arm moves. Since the accident, my left arm will never go up as high as the dance requires. I get tired easily. However, one reason I attend the class is to get more of those moves in.
After class, I drove to the bank to cash two checks. The parking lot was packed. Oh, boy. I needed to get home and take a nap, so I headed home. I had a 1:40 same-day doctor’s appointment. I didn’t see my regular provider. The doctor I preferred was only doing same-day appointments so she could spend more time with her infant son.
I wanted to see the doctor to get a prescription for Xanax. The receptionist/technician at the hyperbaric office recommended I get the medication. She said many of their clients felt anxiety while enclosed in the tank. This was the solution. The doctor advised against it. Xanax promotes dementia. Hmmm! She recommended a natural supplement, 200 mg of L-Theanine, 200 mg. thirty minutes before I entered the tank.
I also needed her to look at my ears. I was feeling more consistent pressure on the left side of my head. I felt some discomfort when I pressed on the jaw joint, my Eustachian tube, and my cheekbones. It sounded like a sinus infection. She recommended a nightly nasal rinse followed by a Flonase nasal spray. It would take two to three weeks to clear up. My problem may have been made worse by the hyperbaric session, but I felt pressure on the left side of my head for most of my life. Sometimes, the pressure of the earphones on the left side of my face is too much.
