WOW! I slept straight through from nine-thirty at night to fifty-thirty in the morning. That hasn’t happened since I was under thirty. At thirty, my sleep pattern changed. I asked a doctor about it. He said, “Age.” Well, I was sleeping like an adolescent again.
While I woke at 5:30 to go to the bathroom, I didn’t get up until close to 7. I fell asleep again. I did only one of the in-bed exercises. I kept falling asleep between poses.
I took a shower after I got home to prepare for church. I didn’t get much work done before I had to leave. After the service, I spoke to Margaret, who manages the Sunday school program. I told her I would be willing to tutor one or two students. We agreed she would state my charge of $50 an hour and that I would accept less. People tend to devalue the service if you don’t tell them it’s expensive and they must pay something. I was working for one woman for free. You would think she was doing me a favor by allowing me to work with her children.
When I got home, I took a nap. Two and a half hours later, I woke up. Wow! again. Boy, I have some capacity to sleep. Even after I woke up, it was hard to get up. I was so relaxed; getting up was like lifting a dead weight.
I managed to get some housecleaning done and finally published the blog post for last year. The blog posts are always exactly one year behind. I didn’t have much time before my four o’clock session. I managed to move some furniture in the library to clean the bookshelves behind it. I didn’t get the shelves cleaned. I vacuumed a section of the lanai carpet, treated the surface of the wooden table, and cleaned up some of the screens with some remaining dirt on them.
I worked with the M & W sisters. I started a story with first-grade M the other day. It was poorly conceived. I worked with sequencing and including details. It came out reasonably well. I started on the next book assignment with sixth grade W, Out of the Dust. It is written in blank verse. She likes doing the Gating Game. It would be even more challenging to do with this book because it is written in blank verse. It was about the same. W knows a lot and is bright as a whip. However, she misunderstood one of the sentences. It was an impressive mistake. I cleared that up, but it alerted me to focus more on sentence comprehension.
