It was another sleepless night, but not as bad as last night. I was preoccupied with the same issues but wasn’t as disturbed as the night before. I wound up dozing a lot, which I hadn’t done the night before. When the alarm went off at five, I stayed in bed till six. I didn’t have time to do my seated yoga. I walked Elsa and got my initial 4,000 steps in before I showered and went to church.
Oddly, I was wide awake in church today. Usually, I doze off at some point. I was a bright-eyed and bushy tail for the whole service.
I drove myself to church today. Paulette called me yesterday to say she had to stay late after mass. She was meeting with someone interested in assisting her in her wedding ministry through the church. She didn’t know if Judy wanted to ride with me or drive herself. I called Judy. She had a big shopping to do at Costco and would drive herself. I had to be home by 11:15 for my tutoring session with second-grade M.
M continued with her work on reading comprehension with Stuart Little. After the session, I called her dad to ask what he knew about the teacher’s impression of her work. She got the same grades as last term on her report card. The teacher had nothing positive to say. Since her parents have seen a big change in M (more self-confidence, more verbal skills, improved vocabulary, and better reasoning), they didn’t hold the teacher’s feedback in high regard. M told me the teacher yells at the kids when they make mistakes. While I understand the frustration, sometimes I want to scream, too; it promotes fear and poor performance in the children.
