I met with the twins this morning. I continued with the writing project. The goal is to have them dictate a story to me as I type. I may brainstorm with them. With the Twins, I still have to do much of the composing after pulling information out of them. Twin A produced a few sentences I could record for the first time. I had to work on getting her to speak slowly enough for me to keep up with her. Producing language and thinking at a pace slow enough so you can record it is one of the writing skills. If you think at the rate of conversation, most people would have difficulty recording it. We have to learn to slow the process down so we can record our thoughts. When dictating their thoughts to me, the students are forced to slow down. They only have to focus on composition and slowed speech.
I started trimming the plumbago. It’s a monster job, particularly up against my neighbor’s fence. Keeping the shrub/vine from encroaching on their property is a battle. I must pull up all the off-shoots growing in the pathway between the fence and the shrubs. The top and the driveway sides of the plant are relatively straightforward. I have to cut them down with my hedge trimmer with a 10-inch blade. To get the shrub looking even, you need one of the four-foot jobbies professional gardeners use and a strong arm. I have neither.
I had my hair cut today. Naturally, it looked the best since I had the last cut. Randee wasn’t her usual self. She seemed more nervous. She usually keeps her focus on me. Today, her conversation was focused on the other operator and her customer. I was concerned about how the cut was going to come out. It came out just fine. Her cuts always look good. During Co
I went to visit my friend Zola. I got to her house before she did; she was coming from church. I spent about an hour with them, and it was a delight.
I watched the movie Lonely Planet on Netflix. Now, they’re making movies to appeal to us older broads. Laura Dern has not only an affair but the possibility of a long-term relationship with a stud 20 years her junior. It’s the reverse of Sabrina. Of course, Humprey Bogart was 30 years older than Audry Hepburn. Then we have Fred Astaire costarring with Leslie Caron in Funny Face, 32 years her senior, and Audry Hepburn, 31 years older. In the movies with Bogart and Astaire, there were no sex scenes. A loving kiss was it for that day and age, even in a film involving great passion. The scenes with Dern and Hemsworth were a little more suggestive. I found it interesting that we never saw Dern without something covering her body while they made sure to display her great legs. While Dern was still slender and looked great in clothing, I suspect her midsection was not what she wanted on public display. I don’t think we’ll see a greater age difference between an older woman and a younger man than 20 years these days.
