 Sunday, November 24, 2024

Elsa curled up in my arms, and we fell asleep together. When I woke at 1:30 or 2 a.m., she had moved to the other side of the bed.  I fell asleep again before I got up at four and worked on the updates till 5:30.  I get my best work done in those early morning hours.

I was just back from my walk when Dean and Nina appeared at my door. I had asked for Dean's help connecting a hose to a faucet.  I needed one by Tuesday when Margo would deliver forty-two baby shrubs that must be watered regularly.  We walked through the yard around 7 am.  I forgot to warn Yvette and Josh about visitors. We had to walk across the lawn to the far end to get to the faucet.  Masha got worked up and barked her fool head off.

Dean quickly identified the problem. I was trying to attach the wrong part of the hose to the faucet. I used the end of the hose that hooked up to the nozzle. It's smaller than the other end, which fit on the faucet. That was an easy fix.

But then Dean noticed the faucet wasn't working correctly. There wasn't enough pressure; therefore, it wasn't connected to the country's water source. He said it was just draining accumulated rainwater.  I pointed to a faucet at the side of the house, a good 50 feet away. It was a good distance from where the shrubs would be planted, but it could be done. Then Nina noticed a standing faucet next to the driveway. It was perfect for the job. Much better than the one I had selected.

Nina had stepped into some dog poop. We used the water from the faucet to clean her shoes and feet. Everyone here wears slippers, or flip-flops and thongs, as you mainlanders call them.  As they left, Dean asked if I wasn't going to walk. No, I had done that already and was exhausted, ready for my early morning nap.

Just before Dean and Nina arrived at my door, I had placed two eggs in the microwave set for 7 minutes. I ran out without turning the microwave off. I figured I'd return to find two hard-boiled eggs rather than the soft-boiled ones I had hoped for. Instead, I found two exploded eggs. What a mess!!

I discussed the current political situation with Joseph and my anticipation. Joseph was confused about Trump's DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency). It's a department set up to purge anyone from a government position who isn't loyal to Trump. Trump said he was going to do that. Why are people surprised?

After Mass, I stopped briefly at Target to buy a dozen eggs. Then, I drove over to the Unity church for the sound bath.  I was exhausted. I get tired much more easily than I did when I was younger. Adrenaline kept me going then.  I got to the church an hour before noon when the sound bath would start.  I pushed back my car seat and dozed while I listened to Hidden Brain. At 11:45, I collected my mat and started for the church door. Wait! The sound bath is the first Sunday of the month.  That wasn't today. I got in the car and headed home.

I knew why I was confused.  Clyde had texted me to say that Chi Qigong was canceled and that he would see me at the sound bath.  I assumed the Chi Qigong was canceled for the day, not forever.  I immediately assumed it was this Sunday when he said he would see me at the sound bath.  What! Had he canceled the Chi Qigong practice on Monday morning permanently?  I texted him, asking him why.  He said he would tell me when he saw me the following Sunday.

I had an appointment with fourth-grade MH. We continued working on E.B. White's Trumpet of the Swan.  She has difficulty reading it because the language is unfamiliar.  This is complex written language; it is very different from everyday speech, especially when used at home.   I once heard a high school English teacher complain that her Princeton High School students had problems with the written language. She said, "You'd think it was another language." It is.
