I finally got around to cleaning the guest bathroom for the first time since the leak was found by the Sears repairman. I certainly haven't had any guests. When Scott attended to the leak, he found half a dozen almost empty shampoo bottles left by guests. Everyone needs their special brand. I threw most of them away and put the rest back into the cabinet. I'm still going to have to deal with the buckling plywood floor caused by the leak. Scott said I could just razor off the top layer and put some plastic down.
Sandor came by today to help me find books in the library to be shipped to the seminary. Within two hours, we had found fifty books. They were sitting on the desk waiting to be packed.
Sandor is amazing. He has more knowledge about more things. I had been struggling with enlarging text messages on my iPhone. I had tried every one I knew. I tried Shivani, Damon, Cyclin, August, and Dorothy. No one knew what to do. What was particularly frustrating was that sometimes I could make the enlargement work, and other times a circle appeared to the left of the text. When I pressed on the text, instead of enlarging, as it did at other times, the circle turned blue, and that was it. When I pressed again, the circle went blank again, and that was it.
Shivani suggested I install Zoom. I did that. Well, that was a disaster. The image was so large I often could see only one whole word on the screen. Cylin recommended that I move the image to photographs, where I could control the sizing. Dorothy suggested that I get my messages on my computer, where I could manipulate the image. I tried sending images to my email. It didn't work. Dorothy tried to help me figure out why. I found the messaging app on my computer, but it only accepted items addressed to my email instead of my phone. We couldn't figure out how to add my phone.
Sandor told me how to enlarge the text image on my phone. You press twice. I'd done that. The circle comes up when you press too many times. Oh. You get rid of those circles by pressing "cancel" in the upper right-hand corner. Oh!
Sandor also offered several other solutions.
1. Do not buy an operating system from a computer support service. Too late. Hopefully, I can get my money back from Alex on Monday. Between the research Damon did and what Sandor had to say, it is clear I was conned. From what Sandor said, conning is just routine. There is 'nothing' wrong 'with this company. This means that complaining to the head company about their behavior will do no good. They know about it already. They probably say, "Yay!" because it means more money for them.
2. I told him about my problems with the gravestone. I can't get the size limitations from Fr. Lio. Then Fr. Lio said I have to go through this monument company in Hilo because they will build in some mechanism that will allow him to remove the stone when it is time to put my urn in the grave. Sandor is on my page with this. Order that stone and store it someplace. He said he'll make sure it's put in place when I die. I told Susan, the church administrator, that Mike would have to do without a gravestone if the only way I could get it would cost $7,000 versus $700. The monument business is a racket.
3. I thought I would be giving him some information when I told him about my dealing with the Acoustical company. He already knew that it created a drop ceiling. He told me how his father dealt with the fan problem by making it flush to the ceiling.
On the other hand, I don't think this process will address Yvette's sound problems. Sandor had another suggestion. We rip up the rug and install a cement(?) subfloor on top of the existing subfloor. Nail it down every 8 inches. When I said that there were possible problems with ripping up the carpet and relaying it. I might have to start from scratch. Sandor said he had a good floor guy who could do the work for me. Ah, someone, I could trust. I will relay the sound-absorbing material ruined with the top screwing through the rug if I do that. To secure the subflooring, all the screws we put in through the carpet will have to be snapped off or ground down to be flush with the original subflooring.
I am putting a list together for Sandor of other problems I haven't been able to solve.

Musings:
Different perspectives on psychotherapy.
Some think the function of therapy is learning to control' inner impulses. Freud's idea was to be a functioning neurotic.
Therapy can also be intrapersonal. Some believe the function there is just to let off steam, so you do less damage to yourself and others in your life. I see intrapersonal therapy as a way of resolving inner conflicts. The focus is always on the self. The issue is to resolve differences within us.
This involves accepting that we don't contain just one point of view. We contain many. We're a walking, talking crowd. The goal is to be self-aware and reconciling all those aspects of self.
For me, any therapy has to be done within a moral framework. The goal is not just to be a better person for myself but also for everyone I have contact with. I can imagine therapies that don't work that way. I think the goal of Scientology is personal success. I can't imagine living that way. That's not to say that all Scientologists are without morals. No, just that's not the goal of that their therapy.
