Yesterday, I looked at the fourth toe on my right foot while in the shower. OMG! It was purple. I didn't remember hurting it. I thought this was related to all the problems I've been having. I suspect I busted a bunch of capillaries or a vein in that foot. That's what caused the swelling and the numbness. Now the swelling was down a bit, and the numbness is better too.

I called the vet this morning. Elsa gets a shot to deal with her skin allergy. The poor baby has sores all over her body. The first shot was a miracle fix. The second did nothing. I was concerned. It is possible that they never actually gave her the shot.   I had another concern; I couldn't find a record of any appointments with the vet on my calendar. The receptionist told me that the last appointment had been on August 20, when she should have gotten the shot. The next would be on September 20. The receptionist tried to get hold of a doctor to answer my questions about Elsa's skin problem. She couldn't find one and said someone would call me back.

At 9:30, I headed out to the bank to get some documents notarized. I called the bank on Friday to find out the schedule. The bank used to have a notary available during all open hours, but that's no longer the case. Now, the notary was only available from 10 – 11:30 am every weekday.

I signed in when I got there. I must have waited half an hour before someone came to serve me. "Do you have an appointment?" No. I was told the available hours. The clerk brought me over to her desk and made an appointment. I told her I had called. The woman on the phone gave me the hours when the notary was available, but she said nothing about having to make an appointment. I said I wanted to speak to someone. She gave me a card with her name. I asked her why I would want to call her. I needed the manager's number to tell him what happened to ensure it didn't happen to someone else.

While I was at the bank, I cashed a check. It worked out well that I spent half an hour sitting in a chair waiting for a bank clerk. When I arrived at the bank, the line for the tellers went out the door. When I was through making the appointment with the notary, there were only six people in line.

My next stop was Island Naturals to pick up more golden flaxseed. When I arrived at the store, there was a big sign announcing the place was for rent on a short lease. The parking lot wasn't jammed, as it usually is; it looked like they had closed the store. I decided to check. There should at least be a sign on the doors announcing what happened. I was delighted to find the store open and fully functioning. Double delightfully to see the golden flax bin was freshly loaded. Many times when I came to shop, the cupboard was bare. In Hawaii, you have to grab while the grabbing is good, or you have to wait for the next boat to come in. I got a big bag of golden flaxseed, which I grind and include in my morning Juice Plus smoothie.

Target was next. I was looking for birthday cards for my stepson, Damon, and my niece Karin. While there, I picked up more pill pockets for Elsa. She's not on any pills right now, but I give her half a pill pocket every morning and night sprinkled with MakesNoClaims.  If it was good for me, I hoped it would be good for her. I also picked up some cleaning sprays for wood and the counters. This is my new indulgence.

Then off to Costco.   P&G offered a $25 gift card if I bought $100 worth of their listed products. Nice try. Only one problem, our Costco didn't carry all the products. I bought a bunch of Crest mouthwash bottles, as the ivermectin protocol recommended. I figured this couldn't hurt. I bought salad, lemons, blueberries, and vinegar- my staples.

When I got home, I hung up my laundry. I was expecting Judy around 2 pm to listen to the extra slide I made for my video on my reading method.

I called A's mom to ask if we could meet 15 minutes earlier. I have a client at four now. Having appointments back to back doesn't work for me. While I had her on the phone, I asked if she was still regularly playing the 5 Stories audio file for A. She said no. Listening to it drove her crazy. Interesting. I started to tell her how recording the audio file had impacted my reading; I read faster. I went into my usual spiel to impress people with its effectiveness. Message: if it can affect me, it can impact anyone. Before recording the tape, I told her I had a 760 on the GRE (graduate record exam).

I stopped to explain what the GRE was. She said, "I know what the GRE is. I have three master's degrees." I said, "Only three? Wow!" I knew she was a bright lady, but most of my parents don't have one master's degree, no less three. Nonetheless, I had to convince her to play the audio file for him. "Play for him when he sleeps. That way, you won't have to listen to it." I always tell people I can't guarantee it will work. Nothing works for everyone. But I've had enough success with it that it's worth trying for a month to see if it helps.

I had A a little later in the day. If there was any doubt that he needed what the audio file might provide, he put an end to that. While he could tell me the sound a letter represented, he couldn't 'hear' the actual sound in a word if it differed from his expectations.

I asked A if he thought the goal was to memorize everything. He said yes. I told him that wouldn't work. He had to be able to hear the sounds and figure out their relationships to the letters. He became a little more cooperative. A has fixed ideas of how things are supposed to be. He's not so willing to make changes just because I say so. He hadn't noticed that his systems don't work, so why not try mine?
