Surprise, my rear felt much better this morning.  I applied infrared light last night. My friend Katherine recommended it. She had used it on her old horse, and he became as agile as an adolescent.  If it worked on a horse, it was worth a try. Despite my belief in the system and the light sitting on the library coffee table, which I look at every night as I watch TV, I still didn’t think to use it—more beauty than brains.

Elsa and I went all the way up to the third fire hydrant this morning. As we were walking down the street, Judy came out of her driveway. I haven’t had face-to-face contact with her forever. While we were talking, one of the dogs in her son’s home came charging out of the house towards Elsa.  Elsa, in a panic, ran around me, circling my legs with her leash.  I braced myself and screamed, “Shit! Shit!” Having fallen once, I find I am more afraid now of a repeat. The dog wasn’t on a leash, so he didn’t circle my legs too. Judy volunteered to corral him and get him back in the house. Leon, her five-year-old grandson, came running and did the job.

Judy was heading out to Costco. She had put an order through Instacart.  The one from Target came as promised, not so with the one from Costco. It was supposed to arrive last night. I had my phone on me while I was walking. I thought to call Judy and ask her to pick up some dental chews from Costco. So far, Sandor has brought me a gallon Ziploc bag full, Yvette brought me a small bag of Greenies, and now Judy brought me a large, economy-sized box from Costco.  I finally feel covered for the duration. Finding I had none freaked me out.

While I was walking, Yvette texted me to ask me to give her money for the items I asked her to pick up.  She told me she was going to town and would be happy to pick something up for me.  My first request was for those Greenies I mentioned above.  As I thought about it, I thought of more things I wanted. I told her to go to my purse and get the money.

Shortly after I came home, I was exhausted and needed a nap. Most annoying. It’s hard to get anything done when I feel like I need a nap every hour or so. I mentioned my easy exhaustion to Yvette. She reminded me that I’m still on the mend from my fall. When I put out a lot of physical energy, my body needs a lot of relaxation.

When I got up, I was up for some activity.  I washed the kitchen floor. It made me feel so virtuous.  I also got some of the blog finished. I called the foster mom with the ten kids to ask her how she felt about Ronen’s farm produce.  I said that I thought she might not be into salad for her ten kids. She said she looked at the farm site and found it much too expensive. I told her it was deceptive.  It looked like a little, but it was quite a lot of food. She is not interested in the produce, particularly the lettuce, because she feared rat lung disease.  This is a specialty of the island. I’m not sure why the disease has that name, but I do know that it is caused by slugs and snails crawling on the plants.  Hawaiian-grown vegetables have to be carefully washed. Washing enough lettuce to feed 12 people sounds like a full-time job on its own. I thought she might be shopping at Costco for food. She is going out on her own to shop. She is in her sixties and in a high-risk group.  She should not be doing that.  I told her about Instacart. I also told her that they didn’t deliver Judy’s order as they promised.

I slept well and was up before the alarm went off.  In June, it was light at 5:30, but now, it is not so much.  Being close to ...
