Again, I was up and dozed and meditated for many hours. I also did some of the exercises
the PT recommended. I woke up then at 6 am. On my morning walk, I continued emphasizing the backstretch of my left leg. I figured out how to do the back brush Katie recommended in my walk.
I got my public blog post out before it was time to go to church. I texted Judy to ask if she was going. When I got no answer, I set my alarm for 8:30. I didn’t bother going to the church parking lot. I parked in the library lot and walked over. I could hear Fr. Lio make the before-Mass announcements as I climbed the stairs. During Mass, I appreciated a communal activity and a chance to be meditative.
I learned something new about my body at church. Well, not new. I just revisited something I already knew from a different perspective. I sat for most of the service because my leg was tired. I noticed that my right shoulder didn’t touch the back of the pew, while my left one did. If I pushed it back, my whole alignment shifted. I applied it to my walk. Wow! I got so much more stretch in my left hip and leg when I did that.
I greeted Sandor, who was back from his trip to Mexico for a friend’s wedding. I told him how well Damon’s movie, The Bad Guys, was doing. He said he knew. Fr. Lio had announced Mike’s son Damon had a movie out and to see it in his pre-mass announcements. When I thanked Fr. Lio, he didn’t even know what it was about or how religious publications were praising it. He did it to share the joy of Mike’s son’s success. How sweet!
I stopped at the Bike Stop to buy ankle clips. I must shower in medicinal soap to make sure I’m super clean before the surgery on June 2. I had to fly from Kailua Kona to Honolulu to the hospital. I would walk across the tarmac and sit in a filthy plane. I planned to wear long pants with those ankle clips to prevent dirt from working its way up my leg to the place of the incision. The bike shop wasn’t open.
I stopped at Ace Hardware. I prefer it over Home Depot. The employees are more available and better informed. I looked for the new garden kneelers with a padded platform a few inches off the ground with support posts on either side. Ace, who has everything, didn’t have it.
When I got home, I ordered both items on Amazon. This reminds me, I got a text from PayPal telling me there were fraudulent charges on my phone and to call the number given.
Yeah, right away. I tried to call PayPal directly. No way I’m calling the number provided.
I had the M & W sisters at noon. I continued working on reading the National Graphic entry on rabbits with first-grade M. She did very well on the difficult words. She again read for as of. Worse yet, she read the number 14 as 41. Now, that was a worry. She still confuses b, d, and perhaps even p.
I also spent most of the session with fifth-grade W on research. Does an RV have actual rooms? And what kind of a parlor game could the family be playing? I couldn’t remember the ones I played with Damon when he was young. I had to look it up. Sorry was a favorite.
I got through to a friend. She told me the other day that a bad cold was going through her family as I was leaving her house. She clearly had it now. Damn! I hope I didn’t catch it. It may even be Covid 19; it’s highly contagious.
I felt poorly most of the day. I thought it was emotional. I couldn’t shake it. Again, that feeling that every cell in my body was vibrating. It’s not a good feeling. After speaking to Judy, I had to consider I was coming down with something. That would not be good. Judy asked if I had a rapid Covid test. Wow! Something else to consider. Yvette ordered four for our household. I texted to ask for one. The contagious period is ten days. That would not be good. Damon, Cylin, and August would have to cancel their visit, and I would have to cancel all my preop PT appointments. I don’t know which is worse.
Lutz texted me. He had a present for me to keep me company during my recovery from the surgery. There was a picture of two brand-new kittens. He found them on his walk. I didn’t know why he picked them up. Mom couldn’t have been far away. I said NO! in no uncertain terms. He texted back he was taking them to the humane society.
I felt much better at the end of the day. I worked on the blog/updates before watching more of The Crown. It is very well done. I skipped over the scenes showing how the ordinary people of England suffered under Thatcher. I would like to know if there were any positive results from her time as Prime Minister.
